WHAT VOTING DEMOCRATIC CAN DO FOR YOU

While most Democrats have hugged the middle, a small group of Republicans have veered sharply to the right and taken over the Grand Old Party. If you think it’s important to have balance in your life and in your government, you should think about voting for the real moderates and fiscal conservatives, the Democrats…. just this once. Consider also:

If you want our young people in Iraq back here protecting Montana instead of riding shotgun for Halliburton employees making three times as much as they do, vote Democratic. If you believe that our veterans should be treated at least equal, if not better, than the rest of us, plus our firefighters and our policemen, vote Democratic.

If you think John Ashcroft is busier digging into our library book rentals, our doctors reports, or snooping in our homes rather than catching Al Qaeda, then vote Democratic.

If you believe in Science and the possibility of new cures through stem cell research; and that just maybe high carbon dioxide admissions might cause global warming; then vote Democratic.

If you would like to see more Supreme Court Justices like Sandra Day O’Connor, a pragmatic Westerner who grew up on a ranch and was appointed by Reagan, then vote for the Democrat. If you vote Republican, you’ll get another Clarence Thomas or Antonin Scalia, Bush favorites. And you’ll get more deregulation and more removal of economic regulations on everything from child safety to oversight on fraudulent accounting practices to civil rights.

If you believe that the trains that roll through our towns need to have their cargo inspected at the ports before they blow up here in the heartland; if you believe our first responders need the money to protect us here; if you think that everyone should get a flu shot and not just the Congress and football stars; if you think safety also includes our meat supply and that we have to do something about meat packer monopolies, then vote Democratic.

If you want to make the Republican Party the party of Lincoln and Eisenhower again, vote Democratic just this once. Then get a real conservative to take on John Kerry in four years. Vote with your head and your heart. We need to take our Democracy back.
