Edwards 4 VP:
[printable]
Okay, guys, this is our one last chance to pitch the only ticket that can win in November.
Please remember that I am writing to the Kerry people. These are some thoughts:
From a Kerry delegate to the Boston Convention:
In 1971, with little government experience, a young man faced his elders in a Congressional hearing on the Vietnam War. With eloquence and steady determination he articulated the hopes and fears of our young men in the military. It was the “strength of his vision, not the length of his resume” propelled by the deaths of his comrades and his best friend; the assassinations of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King that thrust a soft spoken, thoughtful John Kerry into the spotlight and sealed his date with destiny. It was a terrible and troubled time.
Our country is again in a world of trouble and what we Americans need right now is steady determination once again. We need a real leader and we sure as heck need a good lawyer. Kerry/Edwards is our dream team. This is what it would be like to have JFK and RFK run together. John Kennedy; the pragmatic introspective leader who served courageously on a PT boat and Bobby the younger idealist energizer bunny who had the courage to buck the powers that be. Different experiences, but both had that strength of vision that urged us to service and had us throw away our hopelessness and grab on to the possibilities that we could ALL achieve.
John Kerry and John Edwards have always been communicators first before they are fighters. But when it came time to fight, whether it was in Vietnam, Congress, or in the courtroom, they came out winners and they won for people who couldn’t always speak for themselves. They won for people who worked hard and played by the rules. They won for you and me.
Teresa Kerry and Elizabeth Edwards and are also a brilliant combo. Teresa’s elegant sexy savvy combined with Elizabeth’s pragmatic straight shooting will seal the deal with women and men from all walks of life. Daughter of a doctor and daughter of a Navy pilot, both women have accomplished much while taking care of their children, their careers and their communities.
After a week of listening to the accolades to Ronald Reagan, the Bushies have already started ads comparing Bush’s optimism to Reagan’s. We need to grab the Optimism badge back and trump it by having John Edwards as VEEP. John Kerry has a long resume of public service. He has the steadiness and elegance of Reagan. Edwards brings the agility of speech and the sunny optimism of Reagan. Kerry gives Edwards gravitas and Edwards gives Kerry pep.
This Yankee and woman was amazed at how much I grew to admire a Southern trial lawyer. But you can’t put him in a box. He represents the best of the South, the best in all of us. He represents the American values of hard work, playing by the rules, civility, and duty. In a time of self-serving weasels, he turned away from a lucrative career to serve the people of North Carolina. The opposite of the Kozlowskis, Lays, and Ebbers, this self-made man from a poor rural region picked himself up and moved himself up the ladder without forgetting his roots. Now his mission is to make sure that everybody in America gets the same chance he had. The same with John Kerry. He could have thrown parties on Greek Islands and could have party heartied thru the 1970’s, but he chose another path. Now both men seek to widen the circle of prosperity. If a rising tide lifts all boats, they are going to make sure that we all have a boats.
This is a true team; a perfect combination of personality type. Two men who think in depth and breadth. Two men who can bridge the gap between generations. As a member of the baby boomers, it’s time for us to step up and lead once again but also start to pass the torch on to the next generation. To embrace the politics of hope and optimism and to give the next generation their own Camelot. By electing Kerry we can finally give Vietnam Vets the respect they deserve and by electing John Edwards, who was too young to go, we can begin to put it behind us and look forward to a new century of hope as these United States once more take their place as the beacons of democracy’s light.
Kerry/Edwards: Common dreams and Common sense seeking Common ground.
It’s a no brainer! Think landslide! Think John Kerry and John Edwards.
No one knows what the dangers will be tomorrow. We discovered that on 9/11. If I had to make quick and fateful decisions I would want someone by my side who can assess the situation with the quickness of mind and the astuteness of trial lawyer.
